Difference Between Pressure Sensor and Pressure Transmitte

Many people confuse pressure sensors and pressure transmitters. While both devices measure pressure, they serve different purposes in industrial automation systems.

A pressure sensor is the basic device that detects pressure and converts it into a raw electrical signal. This signal is usually very small and cannot be transmitted over long distances.

A pressure transmitter, on the other hand, includes signal conditioning electronics. It converts the sensor signal into a standardized output signal such as 4-20 mA.

Key Differences
Pressure Sensor
Produces a small electrical signal
Pressure Transmitter
Produces an industrial signal suitable for control systems

Industrial Usage
Pressure transmitters are preferred in industrial applications because they can communicate directly with PLC controllers and distributed control systems.
